A Week in ATL: Outfits & Highlights

Visiting a place you used to live is always bittersweet.  Living in Atlanta- my birthplace and where I spent the first year of my life- at age 21 was so much fun. I’m glad I got to finish college there, make new friends and give my pup Gigi lots of outdoor space.

When I turned 23, I knew it was time for me to move. I’m happy I did, but Atlanta will always have a piece of my heart. That being said, the only thing I absolutely do not miss about Atlanta is the winter weather. L.A. has turned me into a major wimp about cooler temperatures.

A little about what I was up to in ATL: My trip was mostly for fun to see my sister, friends and meet up with my boyfriend for the last weekend I was there. Whenever I head back to ATL, I try and make a list of all the new restaurants I want to try and the places I’ve been before and need to go back to. As far as shopping goes- I went to Neiman’s to shop their end-of-season sale, but was mostly excited about going to local consignment stores because their prices are so.much.better. than L.A.’s.

Shopping:

Collect On Sunday: My friend Sarah (who also has a blog) told me about this new little shop in the Highlands and I was so excited to check it out. It a small boutique with a highly curated selection of vintage clothing and cute handmade items from local artists. SO COOL. I found a leopard anorak (which I’m pictured wearing above) and a striped Escada button down.

Youngblood Boutique: If I still lived in Atlanta, I would definitely be here all the time finding fun little things for my house! They have succulent pots, wall decor and beautiful handmade jewelry. I only walked away with some cards for friends and Palo Santo to sage the place I was staying in (officially a California hippie, I know), but I will definitely be back next time I’m in town.

Rag O Rama: Amazing spot for old school sportswear in Little 5 Points. I love this spot and make sure to go there at least once every time I’m in town. (vintage tees pictured above are both from here).

Wish ATL: I’m biased because my best friend manages this store, but it’s the coolest place in town. Besides having a great sneaker selection, the interior is impeccable. I always leave feeling inspired.

Labels: The best designer consignment store that I have found in Atlanta. They recently updated their store to have an entire room dedicated to shoes and it does not disappoint. I found Stella McCartney heels and Manolo Blahnik mules for less than $250 total.

Modern Mystic Shop: I had been following this store on instagram ever since they opened- so, naturally, I had to go. They sell crystals, oils, cards and astrological gifts.  I bought their Rose Quartz oil and I can’t wait to try more (in case you can’t tell by my instagram lately, I have an obsession with oils).

Restaurants & Cafes:

The Optimist: For some reason, I never had the chance to go here when I lived in Atlanta and it had been on my list for quite some time. I went with my friend Tenisha my first night in town and it did not disappoint. Their seafood and drinks were both incredible and the interior was beautifully done. (this is probably old news to everyone currently living in ATL, but for everyone that has yet to go- this place is a must)

Mourning Dove: This spot took over what was my favorite coffee shop/study spot in college so I had high expectations when I stopped by. I only drink tea, so I can’t say much about their coffee selection- but they have a friendly staff and yummy pastries so what more can you ask for?

Victory Sandwich Bar: I used to go here all the time and I missed this place so much. It’s right next to the Beltline and their little sandwiches and salads make the perfect combination for a quick lunch.

Upbeet: Finally, Atlanta has a salad spot! I love this place. I went twice while I was there and it still wasn’t enough. Also, like most salad places, the inside is super trendy/ perfect for instagram.

ATL Taco: Love that there is finally a fun Mexican spot at Lenox Mall! 🙂 This spot is right next to all my favorite shops and it’s so cute.
